Formation of Hierarchical Nanoparticle Pattern Arrays Using Colloidal Lithography and Two-Step Self-Assembly: Microspheres atop Nanospheres

We report a simple approach to the fabrication of hierarchical nanoparticle arrays and film patterns using a novel combination of colloidal lithography (CL), two-step self-assembly, and reactive-ion etching (RIE). In this approach, a uniform nanoparticle film (∼15-50 nm particle diameter) is first deposited on a substrate. Then, larger (several hundred to thousands of nanometers diameter) micro...

Fabrication and Optical Characterization of Silicon Nanostructure Arrays by Laser Interference Lithography and Metal-Assisted Chemical Etching

In this paper metal-assisted chemical etching has been applied to pattern porous silicon regions and silicon nanohole arrays in submicron period simply by using positive photoresist as a mask layer. In order to define silicon nanostructures, Metal-assisted chemical etching (MaCE) was carried out with silver catalyst. Provided solution (or materiel) in combination with laser interference lithogr...

Synthesis of photoacid crosslinkable hydrogels for the fabrication of soft, biomimetic microlens arrays

Soft, biomimetic microlens arrays were fabricated by interference lithography from the copolymers of poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), whose hydroxyl groups were crosslinked by photoacids and external crosslinkers. 3-D patterning of silicon by laser-initiated, liquid-assisted colloidal (LILAC) lithography.

We report a comprehensive study of laser-initiated, liquid-assisted colloidal (LILAC) lithography, and illustrate its utility in patterning silicon substrates. The method combines single shot laser irradiation (frequency doubled Ti-sapphire laser, 50fs pulse duration, 400nm wavelength) and medium-tuned optical near-field effects around arrays of silica colloidal particles to achieve 3-D surface...

Modulating two-dimensional non-close-packed colloidal crystal arrays by deformable soft lithography.

We report a simple method to fabricate two-dimensional (2D) periodic non-close-packed (ncp) arrays of colloidal microspheres with controllable lattice spacing, lattice structure, and pattern arrangement. This method combines soft lithography technique with controlled deformation of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer to convert 2D hexagonal close-packed (hcp) silica microsphere arrays into nc...
